Cambodia, Iran Discuss Oil and Gas Exploration Cooperation

Cambodia and Iran have agreed to continue the cooperation on oil and gas exploration in Cambodia.

In their meeting held here on Feb. 21, H.E. Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy and Iranian Ambassador H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari discussed a wide range of cooperation on oil and gas, and the cutting-edge technology on oil and gas investment.

H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari said that Iran is ready to cooperate with Cambodia in exploring, investing and developing oil and gas resources, and boosting oil and gas supplies.

In terms of engineering capabilities and services, Iran has sufficient technical know-how, including new capabilities such as setting up an oil refinery, conducting feasibility studies of oil refining projects, and bilateral cooperation and tripartite cooperation, he underlined.

For his part, H.E. Suy Sem welcomed Iran’s technology on oil and gas sector, adding that Cambodia has many potential offshore and onshore blocks.

On the occasion, the two sides also discussed the renewal of the expired memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation in the oil sector.
