Cambodia Releases Outcome of ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn participated in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held on Oct. 15 via videoconference, at the invitation of H.E. DATO ERYWAN PEHIN YUSOF, Minister of Foreign Affairs II of Brunei Darussalam.

According to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), the Ministers had an extensive and in-depth discussion on ASEAN Community building efforts, enhancement of engagement with external partners and on ensuring successful preparation and outcomes for the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and its Related Summits scheduled to take place on Oct. 26-28, 2021.

They also exchanged candid views on the developments in Myanmar and the progress of the work of the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar in the implementation of the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus. The Ministers encouraged Nay Pyi Taw to facilitate a fruitful visit to Myanmar by the Special Envoy on an early date.

H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn emphasised the importance of this early visit to Myanmar by the Special Envoy and called for practical and realistic steps to be taken so as to engender a constructive dialogue among relevant parties in Myanmar crisis.
