Cambodia, S. Korea Sign a Cooperation MoU

Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Korea National Open University (KNOU), and Orient Group have reached a deal on agricultural human resource training cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Prof. Dr. Songhwan KO, Rector of KNOU and Dr. CHANG, Executive Director of Orient Group in Seoul, the Republic of Korea on Aug. 1.

The visit of H.E. Veng Sakhon primarily aimed to establish the cooperation on training human resources on agriculture sector with KNOU and Orient Group.

The MoU is expected to help increase the capacity of production and productivity ensuring quality, quantity and safety with high competitiveness, he added.

The minister spoke highly of Korea’s contribution to Cambodia’s agricultural development.

Cambodia is a food producer not only for domestic supply, but also for international markets, he continued, adding that the Cambodian agricultural exports include milled rice, rice paddy, cassava, banana, mango, cashew nut and rubber.

The Korean side was positive that the MoU will help develop agricultural human resources contributing significantly to Cambodia’s agricultural sector development in a near future.
