Cambodia Sets High Medal Expectations for World Vovinam Championship in Vietnam

Phnom Penh – Cambodia is setting its sights on winning gold, silver, and bronze medals at the upcoming 7th World Vovinam Championship, scheduled to take place from November 23 to December 2, 2023, in Vietnam.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, President of the Cambodia Vovinam Federation (CVF), the federation is optimistic about the team’s prospects at the championship. He expressed this confidence during a meeting with the Cambodian athletes before their departure to Vietnam for pre-tournament training on November 11.

The CVF plans to send a delegation of 37 members, including sports delegates, coaches, and athletes, to participate in the international sports event. These potential athletes will undergo two weeks of intensive training in Vietnam to enhance their skills and readiness for the championship.

Cambodia’s expectations are buoyed by their past success in the 6th World Vovinam Championship, held in Cambodia in 2019. The country secured a total of 31 medals – 9 gold, 10 silver, and 11 bronze – and was ranked second among athletes from 20 countries.

The upcoming championship in Vietnam presents an opportunity for Cambodian athletes to demonstrate their prowess in Vovinam and build upon their previous achievements in the sport.
