Cambodian Government Resolute in Defending National Sovereignty and Development

Phnom Penh – The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty, peace, and development. This determination was articulated by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet during a mass meeting in front of the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, commemorating the 70th National Independence Day and the 70th Founding Anniversary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that independence and peace are the results of the Cambodian people’s own efforts and initiatives. He pledged to continue the historic and heroic endeavors of the late King-Father, Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh, under the guidance of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, to uphold the nation’s independence, sovereignty, peace, and development.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet outlined the RGC’s vision of transforming Cambodia into a liberal, multi-party democracy, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring sustainable and equitable economic growth. The government aims to improve living standards while respecting dignity and human rights.

Additionally, he emphasized building an inclusive, effective, and financially sustainable social protection system to shield citizens from economic and public health risks and other vulnerabilities. The Premier also underscored the commitment to achieving a mine-free Cambodia by 2025 and reducing unexploded ordnance significantly.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Cambodia’s dedication to pursuing an independent foreign policy, fostering friendly relations and cooperation globally, and actively participating in regional and international peace, stability, security, and prosperity initiatives.
