Cambodian PM Highlights Key Principles for Government’s Recruitment of New Civil Servants

The recruitment of new civil servants of the 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is based on meritocracy, transparency, justice, inclusiveness and effectiveness.

The main principles for the recruitment were underscored by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, while presiding over the closing ceremony of the 2023 training course and the opening ceremony of the new training course for 2024 of the Royal School of Administration (RSA), held at the National Institute of Education here this morning.

The new principles have been well applauded by the public, the Premier underlined.

Since August 2023, the RGC, through the Ministry of Civil Service, has recruited new civil servants for six times, and the seventh one has been in preparation, he recalled, adding that only two ministries – the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports – have been authorised to recruit new civil servants.

According to Samdech Thipadei, the
secondary school teacher recruitment of attracted more than 50,000 applicants, but only some 30,000 were qualified to compete for 441 seats. For the recruitment of 1,300 new primary school teachers, there are over 67,000 candidates, but only 38,000 are qualified to sit for the entrance exams to be held soon.
