Cambodian PM Reaffirms Good Relations with French President

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reaffirmed his good relationship with French President H.E. Emmanuel Macron.

At the graduation ceremony for almost 2,000 students of Human Resource University held here this morning, the Premier said after his visit to France in December last year, he has three channels for direct contact with H.E. Emmanuel Macron.

“After the bilateral talk in the Élysée Palace with H.E. Emmanuel Macron, we have three channels of contact, including WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal,” he pointed out.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said all the channels have been used to discuss state relations, security, regional and international issues for peace.

The Cambodian Prime Minister also took the opportunity to react against an analyst on social media who has criticised his foreign policies last year when he held the rotating ASEAN chairmanship and when he paid his first visit to Maldives early this year.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen explained that all bilateral talks with his foreign counterparts, especially during his trip to Europe in December last year, have been requested by his counterparts and he has never used his title as the ASEAN Chair to request or arrange any bilateral meetings with world leaders.

In response to an analysis saying that he visited Maldives, a very small country, because no country invited him, Samdech Techo Prime Minister said even though this nation is small, it is an independent state with its own dignity and potential.
