Cambodia’s Water Festival Celebration though Foreigners’ Eyes

Cambodia’s Water Festival has impressed many foreigners who admitted that the celebration helped them to understand the culture and traditions of Cambodia.

Mr. Niron, a tourist from France, said the celebration made him a fantastic tour and memory in Cambodia.

“This is a fabulous event in Phnom Penh where I have a lot of so much fun. People bring along of foods, drinks to watch boat races, fireworks show,” he said.

The festival is one of the best times for foreigners to visit Cambodia, said another tourist from France, Mrs. Lilou.

“The festival is better organised than I have seen in the past. The boats floating and fireworks are quite unique. I feel very happy and the festival is very beautiful. I have never seen such places. I’ve been traveling in some countries in Southeast Asia,” she added.

Nearly 340 racing boats take part in the competitions and 30 illuminated boats representing different ministries, institutions and private companies float along the river in front of the Royal Palace to cheer the three nights along with firework display.

A special pavilion has been arranged close to the honorary pavilion, in front of the Royal Palace, for international tourists to watch the Royal Water Festival’s boat racing and floating lanterns. Along with the convenient seats, participating foreigners are provided with free refreshment and headsets for translation of the event announcement and narration into English, French, and Chinese.
