Co-Financing Scheme Designed to Help Tourism-Related Businesses to Resume Operations

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has unveiled plans to help tourism-related businesses recover and resume after being temporarily closed down due to COVID-19. This financing for the tourism sector comes at a time when Cambodia reopens for vaccinated foreign tourists.
Speaking at a press conference organised here this morning by the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, H.E. Phan Phalla, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, stated that the financial assistance would be provided under a co-financing scheme with partner financial institutions.
H.E. Phan Phalla added that the financial assistance to support tourism-related businesses, such as hotels and restaurants in key areas, will be used to restart, improve and expand their services.
“We are helping them, it does not mean that we help them to build new hotels. But when they have stopped their operations for a year and a half ago, they may have shortage of cash to restart and make improvement,” he explained.
Under the project, the loan amount will not be large, but the government wants more operators to benefit from the programme.
