Cops To Step Up Security Measures For Perak-JDT Super League Clash Tomorrow


LENGGONG, A total of 500 police personnel will be on duty at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh tomorrow night to ensure everything goes smoothly during the Super League clash between Perak and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said the security measures will not only cover the home team but also on the visiting team and their supporters, with the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) being roped in to assist.

‘This measure is taken to ensure the safety of fans and players and to prevent any untoward incidents during the game,’ he told a media conference after attending the High Profile Policing with the Perak Police Chief’s ‘Katakan Tidak Pada Jenayah’ (Say No To Crime) programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Ahmad near here today.

He added that police would be tasked with providing security inside and outside the stadium, including managing traffic control to prevent congestion, in addition to taking stern action should any spectator flouts the stipulated instructions.

s will be carried out at the entrances and within the stadium, including body and bag checks, to ensure no banned items like fireworks, flares and weapons, are brought in.

For the record, the Southern Tigers will be looking to keep their winning run going after trouncing Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC 6-0 on Aug 9 whereas Perak are still reeling from a surprising 2-1 loss to Kuching City FC at the Perak Stadium on July 30.

Perak are currently ninth in the Super League standings with two wins and five defeats for six points while JDT top the leaderboard with 22 points after eight outings.
