COVID-19 Vaccination of Workers in SSEZ Starts

The vaccination campaign of workers in the Sihanoukville Special Economy Zone (SSEZ) kicked off yesterday, not only to protect them from COVID-19 pandemic, but also to keep the production chains of factories in the zone.
The launch of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the zone was held under the presidency of H.E. Gen. Ith Sarath, Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Joint Chief of Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province and Head of the Provincial Commission against COVID-19, and Mr. Cao JianJiang, Director General of SSEZ.
The SSEZ’s workers have been recommended to continue following the health preventive measures, despites being vaccinated.
Douy Phea, a worker in the SSEZ for nine years, profoundly thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for its efforts to find vaccines for its people.
The COVIID-19 vaccination in the zone does not only ensure the health and safety of tens of thousands of workers in the zone, but also further energises the continued operations, the SSEZ said.
In the first five months of this year, the SSEZ exported US$799 million, a 50 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
