Deputy PM Prak Sokhonn Bestows Royal Order on Outgoing Thai Ambassador

H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, bestowed on the outgoing Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, H.E. Panyarak Poolthup, the Royal Order of Sahametrei, Class Commander, during a farewell call by the Envoy at the ministry on Sept. 6.

According to H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Panyarak Poolthup thanked the Cambodian government for the Royal Order, which he considered a great honour for himself as well as for his team at the Embassy.

Deputy PM Prak Sokhonn praised the Ambassador’s active contribution in broadening and strengthening the friendship and good cooperation between the two kingdoms in many areas such as economy, trade, health, education and culture, underlining the Royal Order was a token of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s appreciation of his endeavours.

Deputy PM Prak Sokhonn and Ambassador Panyarak Poolthup noted with pleasure the close friendly relations between the leaders of both countries, which were the main factor ensuring the steady growth in the multifaceted bilateral cooperation.

Deputy PM Prak Sokhonn referred to the increasing bilateral trade exchange in the first half of this year and encouraged both countries to explore the opportunity to further expand the bilateral trade and investment cooperation. He noted with pleasure the returning of the two countries to the pre Covid-19 normal situation and the resumption of flights that would create favourable conditions for this purpose. He also encouraged both countries to speed up the finalisation of some pending documents.

The Deputy PM and the Envoy also discussed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation on tourism, education, culture and the fight against human trafficking and noted with pleasure the preparation by the two countries for the resumption of negotiation on the overlapping claim areas.

Deputy PM Prak Sokhonn thanked Thai Government for the development assistance provided to the country, including scholarships, training courses as well as the assistance and good care extended to the Cambodian workers in Thailand. He appreciated Thailand’s support for Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, the endeavours by the Deputy PM as Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair for Myanmar and the successful hosting of the 55th AMM and Related Meetings in early August 2022.
