DPM Men Sam An Highlights Everyone’s Responsibility to Preserve Angkor

Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An marked the “Angkor Thanksgiving” event with a call for every Cambodian’s responsibility to preserve the Angkor historical and cultural heritage.
The Deputy Prime Minister and also the Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection made the remarks when presiding over the opening of the “Angkor Thanksgiving” event on Dec. 14 in Siem Reap province.
As Cambodians, we must double our efforts to develop our country, protect peace and social stability and restore our nation to bring it to a new level, she said.
The preservation of Angkor is the duty of all Cambodians and this priceless heritage will never be forgotten.
H.E. Mrs. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, echoed the insights, stressing that the “Angkor Thanksgiving” event was organised to partly acknowledge the importance of peace and the effort of the Royal Government to sustain it.
According to the minister, as part of the tourism master plan for Siem Reap province, the “Angkor Thanksgiving” event is held on Dec. 14-16 every year from 2022 onwards.
This year’s celebration coincides with the 30th anniversary of the inscription of Angkor temples on the World Heritage List.
The event featured range of activities as well as exhibitions, especially to showcase the restoration and preservation of Angkor temples.
It is opened for the public to join free of charge.
