Inauguration of NR3, a New Achievement of Cambodia-China Relations

The inauguration of National Road No. 3 (NR3) is another new achievement of the Cambodia-China relations, under the framework of Strategic Comprehensive Partnership of Cooperation, iron-clad friendship, and common destiny.
The remarks were made by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, while he and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian were presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the Phnom Penh-Kampot portion of NR3 held in Bati district, Takeo province this morning.
According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, the inaugurated portion of NR3 of over 134 kilometres long links Phnom Penh capital’s Chom Chao to Kampot provincial city by crossing Kandal and Takeo provinces.
The construction, which last 34 months from October 2018 to July 2021, cost more than US$215 million, funded by a concessional loan from the Government of the People’s Republic of China and a budget of the Royal Government of Cambodia, he pointed out.
The Phnom Penh-Kampot portion of NR3 has been playing a key role in easing the travel of citizens and tourists to the Kampot and Kep coastal provinces, a major tourism destination, and the transport of all kinds of goods to local and international markets, as well as reduce the traffic congestion on NR4, he underlined.
It is also part of the south corridor of the Greater Mekong sub-region connecting to ASEAN Highway No. 123 (AH-123) which will contribute to boosting the trade and tourism between Cambodia and neighbouring countries, said H.E. Sun Chanthol.
