Inter-Ministry Committee Formed to Organise Mekong Tourism Forum

The Royal Government of Cambodia has formed an inter-ministry committee with task to prepare for the 51st Great Mekong Sub-region Tourism Working Group and Mekong Tourism Forum 2023, scheduled to be held at the country’s Preah Sihanouk coastal province.

Tourism Minister H.E. Thong Khon is assigned to chair the committee, according to a government’s statement released yesterday.

Preah Sihanouk Provincial Governor H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun, and five secretaries of state of relevant ministries are the committee’s vice-chairmen with other 13 senior officials are members.

As regional tourism recovery accelerates, the annual Mekong Tourism Forum returns as an in-person event in Preah Sihanouk province from April 25 to 27, 2023 under the theme “Rethinking for Resilience and Digitalisation”.

Hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, the upcoming forum serves as an interactive platform for regional tourism stakeholders to discuss critical issues and emerging trends, rethink the future of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) tourism, exchange insights and experiences, as well as reconnect face-to-face with each other.

Last year, Cambodia welcomed some 2.4 million foreign tourists. This year, the Kingdom is expected to attract more than 4 million international visitors.
