KOICA Hands over Seven Vehicles to Education Ministry

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) handed over this morning seven vehicles to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), under the project for establishment of the incubation system between university and industry in Cambodia and home-grown school feeding programme.

The handover ceremony was held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh under the presidency of H.E. Heang Sine, Under-Secretary of State at the MoEYS, and Mr. Hyunjun Rho, Country Director of KOICA.

Two cars will be assisted in the operation of the National Incubation Centre of Cambodia (NICC) under the project for establishment of the incubation system between university and industry in Cambodia, and the other five cars will support the implementation of the home-grown school feeding’s purpose at MoEYS and each project province of Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Thom, and Pursat.

The project for establishment of the incubation system between university and industry in Cambodia is a grant project worth US$8 million of the Republic of Korea through KOICA which is implemented by the Korea Productivity Centre (KPC) with MoEYS and RUPP from 2019 to 2023. The project aims to create a startup-ecosystem and market network in Cambodia by strengthening startup competitiveness and promoting startup support programmes which will contribute to Cambodian industrial diversification and help achieve sustainable development.

For the home-grown school feeding programme, it is a five-year project from 2020-2024, implemented under a grant assistance of the Republic of Korea through KOICA in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and MoEYS with a budget of US$10 million. The project aims to support 272 primary schools in the three provinces to enhance the students learning performance and their well-being.
