Kuching, Sarawak: Selangor Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri Attend Sarawak Regatta

In Kuching, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, attended the Sarawak Regatta-Kuching Waterfront Festival 2023. The royal couple, gracing the event on the banks of the Sarawak River, witnessed the final boat race for the Piala Raja Sungai.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, The Sultan and Tengku Permaisuri, who are on a four-day official visit to Sarawak, arrived at the event at 4 pm. They were warmly welcomed by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg, along with Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and his deputies, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

According to the schedule for the royal couple, they are also set to experience the Sarawak River Cruise, enjoying a night cruise along the picturesque river. Their visit includes several key destinations on the following day. They will tour the Sarawak branch of the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation and visit historical sites like Fort Magherita and Juma’ani Pavilion. The evening will culminate with their attendance at a state banquet hosted at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

The visit of Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin will conclude on Tuesday (Nov 7), as they are slated to depart from Kuching International Airport on a special flight at 11.30 am.
