LHDN OFFICIALS TAKE CORRUPTION-FREE OATH


PUTRAJAYA: The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) officials today took the corruption-free oath (IBR) and signed the pledge as their continuous commitment to strengthening their integrity and supporting the government’s aspiration in combatting corruption.

In a statement today, LHDN said the ceremony was led by the Treasury Secretary-General cum chairman of LHDN board members Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, Accountant-General Nor Yati Ahmad, LHDN chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin and LHDN’s private consultant Datuk Noor Azian Abdul Hamid.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki witnessed the ceremony.

‘As an agency certified by the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) since 2022, the IBR implementation is expected to serve as an anti-corruption measure for organisational leadership to be more accountable in carrying out duties and to prevent any misconduct and abuse of power,’ read the statement.

Meanwhile, Azam was quoted as saying that LHDN is the firs
t statutory body to implement IBR in 2017 and to have its board members sign the pledge.

Azam also hoped that the cooperation between LHDN and MACC will continue in efforts to enhance revenue collection and drive economic development by strengthening anti-corruption measures.
