Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) will deploy more landmine detection dogs for overseas operations, stated H.E. Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC in a Facebook post this morning.
“Six CMAC’s detection dogs were purchased by APOPO Belgium demining organisation to deploy in Kenya and South Sudan,” he pointed out, adding that two of them will be sent to Kenya and 4 others to South Sudan.
CMAC’s Detection Dog Programme has changed her situation from purchasing and receiving donation dogs from overseas to providing detection dogs for overseas demands, the director general continued.
“This is a result of strengthening ownership for both tacit and explicit knowledge base management, human resources capacity development, internal operational procedures and technical facilities,” underlined H.E. Heng Ratana.
According to CMAC, its landmine detection dogs have been so far dispatched to South Sudan, Angola and Turkey. They have been fulfilling well their duties.
