OP KHAS HRA 2024: JPJ ISSUES 14,683 SUMMONSES FOR VARIOUS OFFENCES IN MELAKA


MELAKA, The Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 14,683 summonses for various offences in ‘Op Khas Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) 2024’ here in a two-day operation beginning April 1.

Its senior director (enforcement), Datuk Lokman Jamaan said out of this number, 7,785 summonses involved motorcyclists who failed to comply with road safety rules and laws.

“Among the offences for motorcyclists were 3,283 cases involving expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) and no insurance; no driving licence (2,681 cases) and others.

“During the operation period, the JPJ also inspected 59,771 vehicles,” he told reporters during the operation in Jalan Tun Fatimah, Bachang here today.

Also present during the inspection were JPJ Enforcement Division deputy director (policy and strategic planning) Dr Azmi Awang and Melaka JPJ director Muhammad Firdaus Shariff.

Elaborating further, Lokman said in conjunction with Aidilfitri, the JPJ implemented a special operation, from Monday to April 20, in an effort to minimise the rate of roa
d accidents and deaths.

“Additionally, the JPJ also carried out inspections on 54 bus depots and 28 main bus terminals throughout this period to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of public transport services,” he added.
