PM Hun Sen Re-appeals for Voter Registration

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has once again called on his compatriots to register to be able to go to the poll next year, which is part of the democratic process in the Kingdom.
Speaking here this morning at a graduation ceremony of the Royal University of Law and Economics, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the national election is very important for a democratic regime, therefore those who have not yet register as well as those who reach the age of 18 have to register on the voter list.
According to the National Election Committee (NEC), during the first 11 days of the voter list verification and voter registration, a total of 152,562 people has been registered, while 91,014 names have been deleted from the voter list, 10,209 people have their data corrected, and 47,371 others have moved into new commune/Sangkat.
The verification of voter list and voter registration, aiming to update the voter list to be comprehensive and accurate, will last for 50 days, from Oct. 20 to Dec. 8, 2022.
Only registered Cambodian citizens on the official 2022 voter list can go vote in the 7th national election in 2023.
According to the 2021 official voter list, Cambodia has in total 9,205,681 eligible voters, of them 4,904,832 are women. The figure represents 87.94 percent of the total population of 18 years old and up.
Cambodia is going to hold the 7th parliamentary election on Sunday July 23, 2023.
