Search and Rescue Operation Continues, Entering 12 Days

The search and rescue operation for the missing military training helicopter of the Air Force with two people aboard continues, entering its 12 days.

‘From then until now, there has not been a second that the two pilots have been forgotten. The search for the helicopter began shortly after the loss of contact with the participation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and local authorities, and so far our search forces have continued their mission day and night […],’ said Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in a message posted on his social media networks this morning.

The Premier took the opportunity to praise all stakeholders for their attention and efforts in this important mission, and thanked the Cambodian compatriots for their sympathy, concern and encouragement for the search and rescue team in their efforts to find the two pilots in this difficult geography and climate.

On July 12, 2024, a Z9 MH-912 military helicopter with two people – a captain and a pilot – on board lost contact with the Air Force Command in the Cardamom Mountains, in Pursat and Koh Kong provinces. The incident occurred during a training exercise and the flight is part of the Air Force’s regular training in the area, according to the Ministry of National Defence.
