Senate-led Workshop on Fighting Fake News and Press Freedom Concluded

The Senate of Cambodia this morning concluded its two-day workshop to promote cooperation in the fight against fake news and promotion of press freedom.
Over 120 participants from the parliament, relevant ministries and institutions, local media outlets attended the workshop, held here on April 6-7 under the theme “Fighting fake news and press freedom” under the chairmanship of H.E. Pen Panha, Chairman of the Legislation and Justice Committee of the National Assembly and President of the Cambodian section of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF).
The workshop focused on main topics such as fight against fake news, manipulation of information and information pollution, democracy and the media, law enforcement in Cambodia, press freedom and so on.
Since 2010, social media networks, especially Facebook, have been booming in Cambodia. The traditional media have seen their audience and their market shrink. In 2022, Facebook has some 11 million Cambodian users among the total population of around 16 million.
