Siem Reap, home to the famous Angkor temples, has been ranked 15th among the 25 Best Tourist Cities in the World, according to the Tourist + Leisure’s latest survey published last week.
The cultural city earned a score of 89.66 behind Kyoto of Japan (89.77) and before Seoul of the Republic of Korea (89.31).
Oaxaca of Mexico topped the list with a score of 92.96 while Ljubljana of Slovenia was placed 25th with 88.49 score.
Other Asian cities listed include Ubud of Indonesia which came in 3rd place; Chiang Mai and Bangkok of Thailand, 7th and 24th respectively; Jaipur and Udaipur of India, 8th and 10th respectively; Osaka and Tokyo of Japan, 9th and 12th respectively; Bodrum of Turkey, 17th; Muscat of Oman, 19th; and Hoi An of Vietnam, 20th.
Hotels, Michelin-rated restaurants, rich cultural heritage, top attractions and COVID-19 protocols are among the criteria considered by the voters.
