Sultan of Selangor and Tengku Permaisuri Commence Four-Day Visit to Kuching

KUCHING — The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin have arrived in Kuching for a four-day visit to Sarawak, landing at the Kuching International Airport at 4 pm today.

According to BARNAMA News Agency, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg and his wife, as well as other dignitaries, were present to greet the royal couple upon their arrival. The delegation included Sarawak State Secretary and officials from the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability and the Federal Secretariat.

The visit, which will extend over several days, has a schedule that includes cultural and historical engagements. The royal couple is set to explore the Sarawakiana Exhibition and the Borneo Culture Museum. Additionally, their itinerary includes attendance at the Sarawak Regatta – Kuching Waterfront Festival 2023, followed by a night cruise along the Kuching Waterfront.

Their engagements will also take them to the local branch of the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation and historical sites such as Fort Margherita. A state banquet is set to be one of the highlights of their visit.

The Raja Muda of Selangor is also expected to arrive tomorrow to accompany the Sultan and the Tengku Permaisuri in their subsequent activities.
