Tax Revenue Increases Significantly in Q1

Cambodia’s tax revenue in the first quarter of this year has seen a dramatic increase, after the economic activities have resumed since November last year.
While presiding over the official inauguration ceremony of Chom Chao flyover and underpass in Phnom Penh this morning, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said more than US$1,200 million could be generated as tax income in the first three months of 2022.
The figure shows an increase of some US$200 million compared to the same period last year, he underlined.
According to the Premier, in January this year, the General Department of Taxation collected US$288 million as tax revenue, in February US$223 million, and an estimated over US$700 million in March, up from US$217 million, US$200 million and US$615 million in the first three months of 2021, respectively.
With this positive trend, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged the Ministry of Economy and Finance to accelerate the minimisation of the gap of retirement pensions between the old retirees and new retirees, both military and civil.
