Three-day Boat Racing Wrapped up under His Majesty the King’s Royal Presidency

The three-day boat racing as part of the annual Water Festival celebration was concluded this evening with success and joyfulness, under the royal presidency of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

Senate President Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, National Assembly President Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, as well as parliamentarians, senior government officials, foreign diplomats and other distinguished guests, attended the boat racing’s closing ceremony.

On the occasion, the monarch also presided over Kat Proat, a traditional ceremony to mark the end of the boat racing and conferred trophies on the winning teams.

This year, almost 340 boats with over 20,000 rowers from across the country competed in the boat racing, which is one of the main events of the Water Festival being held from Nov. 26 to 28.

Even though official ceremonies ended, entertainment programmes continued until midnight with thousands of cheering spectators.
