US$45 Million Hospital in Thbong Khmum Province Inaugurated

Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital in Thbong Khmum provincial city, built under a grant aid from China, was put into official use this morning.
Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian presided over the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Cambodian Premier said that the newly-built hospital is another precious achievement resulted from the iron-clad friendship and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Cambodia and China.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen took the opportunity to thank the Chinese government and people for their humanitarian assistance to improve the well-being in Cambodia.
According to H.E. Prof. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, the Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital was constructed from February 2019 to November 2021 with a total cost of US$45 million.
This is the second big project funded by a grant aid of China. The first one is Cambodia-China Friendship Preah Kossamak in Phnom Penh capital which will be inaugurated in the near future, he said.
The Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital will become a regional hospital covering the provinces of Kratie, Rattanakiri, Stung Treng, and Mondulkiri, continued H.E. Minister, stressing that it will contribute significantly with the Royal Government’s policy in providing health care access to people in remote areas and ethnic minorities.
Thbong Khmum province currently has 7 referral hospitals, 71 health centres, and one health post to serve 843,310 people.
