Cambodia Boosts Potential Agricultural Exports to Myanmar

The Ministry of Commerce has promoted the export of potential agricultural products to Myanmar in order to strengthen bilateral trade cooperation between the two ASEAN countries.
In a bilateral meeting with H.E. Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Cambodia on July 14, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce, requested the Myanmar side to consider the possibility of boosting the import of potential agricultural products from Cambodia.
The agricultural products include mango, banana, avocado, cashew nut, sweet potato, pepper, sesame, and palm sugar.
Additionally, he briefed his guest on the business and investment potential in Cambodia, as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strategy to restore and develop the Cambodian economy.
For his part, the head of Myanmar’s diplomatic mission in Cambodia expressed his commitment to strengthen and expand the trade cooperation between both nations.
He also emphasised the consideration of the possibility of promoting cooperation in other important areas, including the double tax avoidance and the promotion and protection of investment between the two sides.
The meeting also touched on promotion of bilateral trade and closer cooperation between the two countries’ chambers of commerce and private sector through business matching, and exchange of business visits, exhibition activities and identification of potential goods to further boost exports.
Both sides expressed their commitment to continue cooperating, coordinating and promoting business and investment activities to boost economic and trade growth between the two countries.
The two-way trade topped US$28.2 million in 2020, according to Trading Economics.
