Cambodia, China Reaffirm Mutual Support

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China have lauded their fruitful friendship and cooperation, and reiterated their continued mutual support in the bilateral, regional and global frameworks.

The reaffirmation was made by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in their bilateral meeting in Beijing yesterday evening, during the former’s official visit to China.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet assured his Chinese counterpart of Cambodia’s adherence to the One China Policy as well as its support to the preparation of the third phase of the Belt and Road Initiative, while H.E. Li Qiang re-emphasised that China will continue to support and cooperate with Cambodia in all areas without change.

The Cambodian Prime Minister asked the Chinese side to consider projects related to energy security, infrastructure, investment promotion and encouragement, Diamond Cooperation, and tourism recovery and promotion. The Chinese Premier responded positively to the request, stressing that China is happy to continue to cooperate and push for the implementation of these projects.

Following the bilateral talks, both Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of 15 Memoranda of Understanding, including documents on the action plan for building a Cambodia-China Community of Common Destiny in the New Era 2024-2028.
