Cambodia Dispatches Over 180 Peacekeepers to Lebanon

Some 184 Cambodian blue beret troops of Multi-Professional Engineering Division Unit 829, including 29 women, have left for their UN peacekeeping mission in the Republic of Lebanon.
Seeing them off at the Phnom Penh International Airport on Feb. 2, H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance (NPMEC), said this is another pride for Cambodia.
This is the 12th mission and the Multi-Professional Engineering Division Unit 829 is the 12th unit gaining the United Nations’ trust to contribute to bringing peace to the conflict-stricken countries.s
Since 2006, Cambodia has deployed more than 7,000 peacekeepers, including over 500 women for 11 missions in nine countries: Sudan, South Sudan, Chad, the Central African Republic, Cyprus, Lebanon, Mali, Syria, and Yemen.
Almost 800 Cambodian blue helmet troops are currently fulfilling their missions in Lebanon, Sudan, South Sudan, Mali, and Central African Republic.
