Cambodia PM Announces Support for His Eldest Son as a PM Candidate

Royal Cambodian Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet will be one of the Prime Minister candidates, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, announced this morning.
“I announce my full support for my son, Hun Manet, to be a candidate for the post of Prime Minister through elections,” he stressed while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of 37 roads, wastewater treatment plants and other achievements in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province constructed at a total cost of some US$300 million.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said as a father, training his children to become prime minister is not wrong.
The Premier has advised Lt. Gen. Hun Manet to build more reputation among the public as Cambodia is a democratic nation and this post will only be won via elections.
Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, a three-star general, is Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army since 2018. He is the eldest son of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen.
Lt. Gen. Hun Manet was born on Oct. 20, 1977 in Koh Thmar village, Memot district, Kampong Cham province (now Thbong Khmum province) during the Khmer Rouge rule of Cambodia. He married to Pich Chanmony with two daughters and one son.
