Cambodia to Start Vaccination Campaign of Younger Citizens on Aug. 1

The vaccination campaign of children aged between 12 and 17 years old will begin on Aug. 1, announced Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen quoted by the National Television of Cambodia (TVK).
In a recent special voice message, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said there are around 2 million children between 12 and 17 years old in Cambodia, so the country needs 4 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
According to H.E. Ms. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, next month 3 million doses of Sinovac vaccine would arrive in Cambodia and 2 million others in September for the vaccination of the younger citizens.
Phnom Penh capital and Kandal province remain the priority, followed by Preah Sihanouk province, underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The Premier called on all parents and guardians to be ready to bring their children to get vaccinated against COVID-19 so as to build community immunity for socio-economic resumption, especially school reopening mainly from secondary level up.
The vaccination of children aged 12 to 17 years old will be conducted on a voluntary basis, Samdech Techo Prime Minister stressed.
As of yesterday, 6,454,601 adult people have got their first jab, or 64.55 percent of the planned 10 million people for the vaccination, among them 4,304,932 have been fully vaccinated.
