Government Spends US$30 Million per Month on Social Assistance Programmes

The Royal Government of Cambodia spends more than US$30 million per month to implement social assistance programmes, especially the development of strong, sustainable and inclusive social protection system for the benefit of all target groups.
H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the National Council for Social Protection, said at the opening ceremony of “Social Protection Week” held on Feb. 15 that in June 2020, the government launched the “Cash Transfer Programme for Poor and Vulnerable Households during COVID-19”, a special social assistance programme that is still being implemented today.
H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth added that the “Strategic Framework and Programmes for Economic Recovery in the Context of Living with COVID-19 in a New Normal 2021-2023”, approved and put into use in December 2021 clearly defines the priorities for the development of social protection system.
