Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his congratulations to the nine millionth person vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Premier’s official Facebook page this evening, the nine millionth is grandmother Prum Kuoy, 76, living in Thmar Samleang village, Mean commune, O’ Raing Ov district, Thbong Khmum province.
H.E. Dr. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Chairwoman of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination, will personally hand over Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s donation of 10 million Riel (US$2,500) and other materials to grandmother Prum Kuoy.
“Up to now, Cambodia has achieved the vaccination of 9 million people against COVID-19, equivalent to 90 percent of the target of 10 million adults,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.
This figure did not include that of the vaccinated children-youth from 12 to under 18 years old, which already reached 69.47 percent of the nearly 2 million target and those who got the booster doses, he added.
“If we add all the figures, we have vaccinated more than 10 million people or about 65 percent of the total population of 16 million,” he stressed.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank all people, health officers, and authorities at all levels for their participation in the vaccination process.
