Upper Canada Mining announces Mr. James Beals as Interim Chairman and CEO

CALGARY, Alberta, July 23, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Management and Directors of Upper Canada Mining Inc (UCM), a private Canadian company in the business of mining, exploration and production, primarily in gold and silver, are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. James Beals as Interim Chairman and CEO effective immediately.As Interim Chairman and CEO, Mr. Beals will be overseeing all aspects of operations of the company. Mr. Beals has been acting in the capacity of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and will succeed James Crawford and Paul Haber who have left the company through mutual agreement to pursue other interests. Mr. Beals brings over 30 years of experience in High Tech and Telecommunications consulting. In addition, he has over 15 years of management consulting experience. He has held positions in administration and management, and financial consulting. He has worked with two of the largest technology companies (Dell, HP) prior to making his career change to financial/investment management, business consulting and technology integration. He has held licenses in the insurance and financial consulting industries in Ontario and is a graduate of Algonquin College in Ottawa, Canada, in Electronics Engineering Technology.

He is currently Chairman of his own international private management consultancy, The Dunn Group, where he is involved in a number of consulting projects ranging from technology to minerals & mining to sales & marketing to finance and international trade. From that role he brings a wealth of both technology experience and management & financial consulting experience as well as a substantial network of contacts in the sales & marketing and financial sectors.

His relationship with the resources industry goes back to the days of his father who was an executive and manager for many years working with INCO and Sherritt International. His interests in, and experience with, the Canadian natural resources industry continues to this day culminating in this most recent appointment.

DALI University Scholarships Opened for Cambodian Students

DALI University of the People’s Republic of China is granting scholarships for Cambodian students interested in pursuing undergraduate degree for the academic year 2021-2022.
The opening was circulated recently by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, noting that it offers ten seats for high performing Cambodian students.
Awarded students will receive full support for accommodation fee and some stipend during their studies in China.

According to the Cambodian Students Association in the People’s Republic of China, there are over 2,000 Cambodian studying in the country, and about 300 graduated annually.

Japan to Grant Some US$3.3 Million to Promote Human Resource Development in Cambodia

The Government of Japan will grant JPY362,000,000 (approximately US$3,310,000) to the Royal Government of Cambodia for the implementation of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship in 2021.
The Exchange of Notes and related documents on the extension of the Grant Aid will be signed here on July 26 between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn and H.E. Mikami Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, pointed out a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation made public this morning.
β€œThe above grant aid extended by the Government of Japan will crucially contribute to promoting human resource development of the Kingdom of Cambodia as well as further enhancing the close cooperation and bond of traditional friendship between the two countries,” stressed the ministry.

Ministry Acknowledges Hard work of Forest Rangers

Ministry of Environment has acknowledged the hard work of the Cambodian forest rangers, including those who are female.
The ministry has publicly recognised them recently stressing their courage and national conscience to preserve Cambodia’s natural resources.
Cambodia currently has more than 1,200 forest rangers, including 42 females, stationed in 20 protected areas across the country.
The work as forest rangers is quite challenging and risky, nevertheless, our male and female rangers are fulfilling their role very well, continued the ministry.

Senior Minister Sun Chanthol Receives Japan Scholarship Winners

H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, received via videoconference yesterday 24 Japan scholarship winners.
On the occasion, H.E. Sun Chanthol congratulated them on being awarded with Japan scholarship and hoped that they would try their best to study hard to gain knowledge, maintain good attitude, be well disciplined and draw new experience in Japan to develop the Cambodian nation.
The minister gave them some recommendations, shared knowledge and experience as well as policy and vision of the ministry which constituted a good concept for them to disseminate to students of other countries so that they know more about Cambodia.
H.E. Senior Minister also laid stress on the efforts of the ministry to build Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport to train Cambodian engineers and briefed the students on the achievements of infrastructure development in the country.
