PM: Right to Life Takes Precedence over All Rights

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has once again underlined that the right to life takes precedence over all rights.
At a press conference here this morning after the launch of the vaccination campaign of the under-18s, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said all rights must start with the right to life, it takes precedence over other rights, especially the freedom of expression.
“In Cambodia, we respect all rights, but the first priority is the right to life,” he stressed.
The Cambodian Premier also asked for understanding from the citizens over the difficulties arisen from the recent measures taken by the Royal Government to cut off the transmission chain of COVID-19, mainly Delta, such as curfew, lockdown of some provinces and so on.
As of July 31, Cambodia’s tally of COVID-19 was recorded at 77,243, including 10,537 imported cases, of which 69,996 have recovered and 1,397 have died.

Vaccination Campaign of Under-18s Kicks Off

Cambodia launched here this morning at the Peace Palace the vaccination campaign of children aged between 12 and 17 years old against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The launching ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen who also accompanied his grandchildren for the vaccination.
The vaccination of younger citizens, conducted on a voluntary basis, started from Phnom Penh capital, and the provinces of Kandal, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong provinces.
There are around 2 million children between 12 and 17 years old in Cambodia.
The Premier called on all parents and guardians to bring their children to get vaccinated against COVID-19 so as to build community immunity for socio-economic resumption, especially school reopening mainly from secondary level up.
For the adults, as of July 31, 7,304,756 people have got their first jab, or 73.05 percent of the planned 10 million people for the vaccination, among them 4,783,561 have been fully vaccinated.

More Than 7.6 Million Doses of Vaccines to Arrive in Cambodia in August

This month, Cambodia will receive up to over 7.6 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines through purchases and donations.
The information was shared by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen at a press conference here this morning following the official launch of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for the under-18s.
Today, he continued, 1million donation doses of vaccine donated by China, arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport. And then, Cambodia will also receive the rest of Johnson & Johnson vaccines and of Japan-made AstraZeneca, as well as 415,000 doses of UK-made AstraZeneca, and 5 million doses of Sinovac.
Together, Cambodia will have over 26.5 million doses in total for the vaccination of 13 million people or some 80 percent of the total population of 16 million.
The Premier took the opportunity to clarify that he will personally welcome the arrival of vaccines donated by friendly countries via bilateral mechanism. He thus announced to personally receive the UK-donated AstraZeneca vaccines at the airport.
Cambodia currently has almost 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in stock through purchases and donations.

Cambodia Expects to Vaccinate 80% of Population by November

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen announced that the vaccination against COVID-19 of the adults and the under-18s will be achieved by November this year.
Cambodia’s COVID-19 vaccination goal is expected to achieve seven or eight months ahead of the government’s plan (mid-2022), stressed Samdech Techo Hun Sen at a press conference following the official launch of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for the under-18s.
The Premier attributed the vaccination achievement to four main factors: leadership, enough vaccines, enough funds to buy vaccines, and enough human resources for the vaccination.
Together, Cambodia will get up to over 26.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in total for the vaccination of 13 million people or some 80 percent of the total population of 16 million.

PM: Frontliners, the Priority for 3rd Dose

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has agreed with the provision of the 3rd dose to boost the immunity against the COVID-19 pandemic.
At a press conference here this morning after the launch of the vaccination campaign of the under-18s, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the frontliners, who account for 500,000 to 1,000,000 people, especially those at the Cambodian-Thai border, are the priority for the 3rd dose or the boosting dose.
AstraZeneca will be used as the boosting dose for those injected with Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccine, while those with AstraZeneca, they would receive Sinopharm or Sinovac for their 3rd dose, he added.
After the frontliners, the 9 million others will get their 3rd doses, he underlined.
Besides, Samdech Techo Prime Minister announced his personal intention to vaccinate those aged 10 and 11 years old. Anyway, he said, it also depends on the recommendation from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the vaccine manufacturers.
As of July 31, 7,304,756 adult people have got their first jab, or 73.05 percent of the planned 10 million people for the vaccination, among them 4,783,561 have already received their 2nd dose.
