H.E. Hun Many Encourages Cambodian Wheelchair Basketball Teams in Indonesia

H.E. In this morning’s matches, for the 3-on-3 event, the Cambodian women’s wheelchair basketball team defeated their Lao counterpart 11-5, but the men’s team lost to their Thai counterpart 4-16.

Cambodia, S. Korea Army Cooperation Promotion

Cambodia supports the promotion of army cooperation with the Republic of Korea to bring it to a new level.
The intention was expressed by H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance (NPMEC) in a meeting with Colonel Chung Naksam, outgoing Military Attaché of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny underlined the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Cambodia and S. Korea on the peace keeping cooperation under the UN framework.
The MoU focused on a joint collaboration on exchanging of exposure visits under the peace keeping framework including mutual visits of technical units.
The agreement also covers research and education communication between the two armies, added the director general.
He also spoke highly of Colonel Chung Naksam’s two-year military diplomatic mission in Cambodia, and welcomed new Military Attaché Colonel Park Symantec in the Kingdom.
Early on July 25, Colonel Chung Naksam also paid a farewell visit to H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF).

Minister: Gender Mainstreaming Needs Participation from All Parties

Gender mainstreaming requires participation from all parties, including role model women who can inspire other women to take part in social activities and change negative mindset for women.
H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, made the note in a meeting with H.E. Mrs. Folakemi I. Akinleye, Manila-based Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on July 27.
The minister underlined the situation of Cambodia’s women and children, as well as key policy frameworks supporting gender equality, such as rectangular strategy phase IV, national development strategic plan, 5th Neary Rattanak strategic plan, national action plan on prevention of violence against women and regional mechanisms.
She also laid stress on key achievements by the government, especially the increasing number of women in politics, education, vocational training, economy and beyond.
H.E. Mrs. Folakemi I. Akinleye appreciated the achievements and the effort of Royal Government of Cambodia as well as the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in promoting gender equality in Cambodia.
