Cambodian Senate President to Pay an Official Visit to Vietnam Next Week

A high-level delegation of the Cambodian Senate led by its President Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum will pay an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam early next week, from Oct. 24 to 26.
The forthcoming visit will be made at the invitation of H.E. Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam, according to a press release of the Senate Secretariat issued on Oct. 21.
The visit intends to strengthen and expand the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples and countries as well as between the Cambodian Senate and the Vietnamese NA, it underlined.
It is also aimed to cheer the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-Vietnam diplomatic relations, and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022, added the source.
During the visit, Samdech Say Chhum will hold talks with Vietnamese top leaders including H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese President H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnamese NA President H.E. Vuong Dinh Hue, and Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Pham Minh Chinh as well as some other Vietnamese dignitaries, the press release pointed out.

Outcomes of State Visit to Cambodia by President of Timor-Leste

H.E. Dr. Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, this afternoon concluded his three-day state visit in Cambodia, and the outcome of his visit reads as follows:
“At the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI, King of Cambodia, His Excellency Dr. JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, led a high-level delegation to pay a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from 19 to 21 October 2022.
During the visit, His Excellency Dr. JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA was granted a Royal Audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath NORODOM SIHAMONI. He also received separate courtesy calls by Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdey SAY CHHUM, President of the Senate, and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly.
His Excellency President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, had a Bilateral Summit Meeting on 20 October 2022 to discuss the enhancement of the friendship and cooperation between both countries.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN appreciated President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA’s meaningful State Visit when the two countries celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations. The two Leaders welcomed the recent entry into force of the Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports, which was signed during the official visit of Samdech Techo Prime Minister to Timor-Leste in 2016 and regarded it as another step forward in strengthening the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN recalled the recent fruitful discussion the two Leaders had in New York, especially on the importance of fostering economic cooperation. In order to boost the economic cooperation, Samdech Techo Prime Minister encouraged the competent authorities of both countries to continue to effectively implement the existing three signed documents: The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation, the Agreement on Technical and Economic Cooperation, and the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce of the Two Countries.
President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA expressed interest in and took into consideration Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN’s proposal for the investment by Timor-Leste in rice milling in the Kingdom for export to Timor-Leste to meet the country’s domestic demand.
The two Leaders shared satisfaction with the Air Services Agreement to be signed following the meeting and hoped it will lead to the establishment of flight connection between the two countries.
President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA appreciated Cambodia’s generosity in providing masks and medical equipment to contribute in Timor-Leste’s fight against COVID-19 and thanked Cambodia for providing scholarship to Timor-Leste’s 10 students.
The two Leaders also discussed the security cooperation, particularly in the fight against terrorism and transnational crimes, including human trafficking.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN while His Excellency President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA highly appreciated Cambodia’s continued support.
At the conclusion of the Meeting, Samdech Techo Prime Minister HUN SEN and President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA presided over the signing ceremony of two documents: Air Services Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on Rice Trade between the two countries.
During the visit, His Excellency President JOSÉ MANUEL RAMOS-HORTA laid wreathes at the Independence Monument and the Monument of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah NORODOM SIHANOUK, PREAH BOROM RATANAK KAUDH, the late King-Father of Cambodia. He also delivered public lectures at three universities in Phnom Penh.

Zero New COVID-19 Infection Reflects Government’s Effective Control

The fact that Cambodia has detected no new case of COVID-19 reflects the Royal Government’s effective control over the deadly pandemic, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said on Friday.
“Today, Cambodia does not find even a single case of COVID-19,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said at a get-together with local residents in Run Taek development area in Siem Reap province.
“We have reported zero new death and zero new COVID-19 case. In the past, we also recorded no new COVID-19 infection for 52 consecutive days. This is the result of the Royal Government’s effective control on COVID-19,” he said.
The Kingdom has so far administrated at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines to 15.21 million people, or 95.07 percent of its 16 million population, according to the Health Ministry’s report dated Oct. 20, adding that over 14.57 million of the population, or 91 percent, have been fully vaccinated with two required shots.
As of this morning, Cambodia has confirmed 137,979 cases of COVID19 with 134,870 recoveries and 3,056 deaths.

CDC Gives Green Light to Three New Projects worth over US$14 Million

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has approved three new investment projects with a total capital of US$14.1 million in Kandal and Preah Sihanouk provinces.
According to a CDC’s press release issued this afternoon, these new projects belong to Cheng Zhen Yong Industry Co., Ltd., Xin Jin Hua Garment Co., Ltd., and Success Metal Technology Co., Ltd.
The three companies will invest in the establishment of shoe assembly parts and garment factories in Kandal province’s Ang Snoul and Kandal Stung districts, respectively, and in metal processing in a special economic zone of Preah Sihanouk province.
These newly approved projects are expected to generate some 2,500 jobs for the locals.
Such investments demonstrate confidence of investors in Cambodia’s macroeconomic, political and social stability as the country is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

PM Reminds Civil Servants to Provide Services to People with High Responsibility

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen held in Siem Reap provincial city this afternoon a get-together with more than 2,000 provincial, city, district, commune, Sangkat councilors, civil servants, and the armed forces.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his congratulations to all commune/Sangkat councillors who won support from the people through the recent local election.
The Premier also commended all civil servants and the armed forces for fulfilling well their duties for the benefit of the nation and the people. Anyway, he advised them to continue paying attention to their duties, especially to the provision of services to the people with a high sense of responsibility.
According to H.E. Tea Seiha, Governor of Siem Reap province, there are a total of 2,273 civil servants (949 women), 911 provincial, city, district, commune, Sangkat councillors (210 women), and nearly 3,000 armed forces in the province.
With a total population of 1,113,476, Siem Reap province covers an area of some 10,299 square kilometres and is divided into a city of 12 Sangkat, and 11 districts of 88 communes and 910 villages.
