Indian Embassy in Cambodia Marks 75th Independence Day of India

The Embassy of India in Cambodia this morning celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India, under the presidency of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Deyvani Uttam Khobragade.
On the occasion, H.E. Dr. Deyvani Uttam Khobragade unfurled the National flag which was followed by rendering of the Indian National Anthem. This was followed by reading of President of India’s speech by the Ambassador. Thereafter, a congratulatory video message by Mr. Hun Many, Chairman of the Commission on Education, Youth, Sports, Cult, Religious Affairs, Culture and Tourism of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Padma Shri awardee was played. It was followed by live streaming of a cultural programme conducted by members of Indian community, on the Embassy’s social media platforms.
According to the embassy’s news release, the 74th Anniversary of the Independence Day celebration are an integral and important part of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, as India moves towards its 75th Anniversary of Independence next year on Aug. 15, 2022. This programme was launched by the Indian Prime Minister H.E. Shri Narendra Modi on Mar. 12, 2021 and will continue till Aug. 15, 2023 highlighting five pillars i.e. Freedom Struggle, Ideas at 75, Achievements at 75, Actions at 75 and Resolves at 75 as guiding force for moving forward keeping dreams and duties as inspiration.
On account of Royal Government of Cambodia health protocols and restrictions due to COVID-19 pandemic on assembly, the entire function was held online and telecast live on the Embassy’s Facebook, said the same source, adding that the links may be seen at twitter: twitter.com/indembcam and Facebook: facebook.com/indiaincambodia.
