The government has planned to build standard landfills in other provinces to contribute to improving the efficiency of waste management.
The remarks were made by H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment during a visit to a landfill, which has just been put into use in Prey Nup district, Preah Sihanouk province.
Speaking to media during the visit on Nov. 30, he said that this is the first landfill in Cambodia established with technical standards.
In 2022, the Royal Government of Cambodia plans to build more standard landfills in other provinces such as Kep, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, etc.
The landfill in Preah Sihanouk province was constructed on an area of 51 hectares with a total budget of more than US$5.31 million.
