The restoration project of Ta Prohm Temple’s dance hall is being finalised and scheduled to be opened for tourists soon, according to the APSARA National Authority.
The update was shared by Dr. Sing Sood, Conservation and Restoration Expert of the Cambodia-India Cooperation Project for the Preservation and Restoration of Ta Prohm Temple, adding that his team is currently working on the remaining small tasks.
The restoration of the dance hall at Ta Prohm temple started in 2011 under the Cambodia-India cooperation project, and the dancer hall will be officially opened for visitors in about two-month time, he said.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in collaboration with the APSARA National Authority has been working hard in research and removing of stones from one stage to another, emphasised the expert.
Besides the restoration project of the dance hall, ASI is also helping to restore the South and East Gates and some of the Gopuras, which are likely to be completed by 2025, he added.
Ta Prohm Temple was built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, while the dance hall was built to dedicate to King Jayavarman VII’s mother.
