Cambodia’s Ministry of Health (MOH) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) concluded here on July 5 an agreement to officially launch the “Project to strengthen capacity of COVID-19 response in Cambodia”.
The purpose of the project is to strengthen the COVID-19 vaccines deployment system and diagnostic capacity as well as monitoring and evaluation system of COVID-19 response, said a press announcement of JICA.
More specifically, (1) the vaccine deployment system, (2) capacity of diagnostic tests for COVID-19 at a regional laboratory, (3) diagnostic capacity of COVID-19 including pneumonia, and (4) laboratory surveillance of COVID-19 as well as assessment of COVID-19 vaccine programme through introduction of serological testing will be strengthened, it underlined.
To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the same source added, items to build a cold chain for the vaccine delivery, equipment and materials of PCR and serological testing, Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) machines will be provided together with the trainings for their usage.
Upon launching this project, JICA reaffirms its commitment to work with MOH to further enhance RGC’s efforts against COVID-19 in Cambodia under “JICA’s Initiative for Global Health and Medicine,” stressed the announcement.
