AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022: Cambodia Beats Brunei 5:1

Cambodian U23 national football team beat their Brunei counterpart 5:1 in a match held yesterday evening at Phnom Penh’s Morodok Techo National Stadium for the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022.
Cambodia also defeated the Philippines 3:2 on Dec. 20 at the same stadium; but lost to Indonesia 1:2 on Dec. 23 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Indonesia.
The Cambodian team will meet their Thai counterpart on Jan. 2, 2023 in Thailand.
AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 take places from Dec. 20, 2022 to Jan. 16, 2023, with the participation of footballers from the 10 ASEAN member countries.
Cambodia is in group A with Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam, while group B includes Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore and Laos.
The event will be a good opportunity for the national footballers to sharpen their capacity for the SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games 2023 to be hosted by Cambodia.

Kep Hosts National Triathlon Championship 2022

Cambodia’s coastal Kep province is hosting the National Triathlon Championship 2022 from Dec. 28 to 29.
The update was shared by Mr. Ngin Sokpanha, Secretary General of Cambodia Triathlon Federation (CTF), adding that the Aquathlon has been selected for the tournament to warm up Cambodian athletes for the SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia.
Aquathlon has been listed for the first time for the SEA Games 2023, said Mr. Ngin Sokpanha.
The National Triathlon Championship 2022 serves as another opportunity for Cambodian athletes to measure and develop their capacity for the SEA Games 2023.
The competition comprises two subjects: Sprint Aquathlon for men-women (500 metres swimming and 2.5 kilometres running), and Standard Aquathlon for men-women-nursery (1,000 metres swimming and 5 kilometres running).
The federation prepared over 40 athletes and technical officials for the event to further build up their experience, he added.

In-Depth Reforms of Physical Education and Sports Toward SEA Games 2023

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has prepared a national policy on the development of physical education and sports and made an in-depth reform toward the SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia.
The note was highlighted by its Minister H.E. Hang Chuon Naron in a handover ceremony of the Royal Government’s awards to coaches, assistant coaches and Cambodian medallists at the 31st SEA Games here in Phnom Penh early this week.
The in-depth reform includes sports infrastructure renovation and construction, human resources department, competition structure reform, and budget support to national sports federations, H.E. Hang Chuon Naron emphasised.
The minister briefed on the achievements by the ministry’s in-depth reforms, adding that it has contributed significantly to promoting Cambodia’s sports development, especially to achieving regional, continental and global level medals.
He also spoke highly of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), the National Sports Federations, coaches and athletes for their joint efforts and high commitment bringing about success and pride for the nation.
The Royal Government of Cambodia is working hard in enhancing the country’s sports by constructing sports infrastructure and building sports human resources, he added.
Cambodia earned in total 43 medals, including 9 gold, 9 silver, and 25 bronze at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.

Cambodia’s Achievements at 2022 SEA Games Reflect Government’s Will for Sports Development

The proud achievements obtained by Cambodia at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam reflects the Royal Government ‘s strong will to further boost the sports to be on an equal footing both regionally and internationally.
The note was made here in Phnom Penh this morning by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, President of the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) at the handover ceremony of the Royal Government’s awards to coaches, assistant coaches and Cambodian medalists at the 31st SEA Games.
Samdech Tea Banh continued that this success also showed Cambodia’s remarkable sports development.
The government has invested more and more in sports by constructing and renovating sports infrastructure and building human resources as well as providing awards for medalists from all international competitions, emphasised the deputy prime minister.
He also spoke highly of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), the National Sports Federations, coaches and athletes for their joints efforts and spirit and high commitment to bringing about success and pride for the nation despite the COVID-19 crisis.

6th Golf Tournament for Samdech Techo Prime Minister Cup Kicks Off

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen (Pic. 1) hits a golf ball to launch the 6th Golf Tournament for Samdech Techo Prime Minister Cup, organised at Vattanac Golf Resort located in Sangkat Prek Thmey, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh this morning with the participation of 174 national and international players, to mark the the 24th anniversary of the complete end of civil war in Cambodia.
