Korea-funded National Incubation Centre of Cambodia Officially Inaugurated


The National Incubation Centre of Cambodia (NICC), funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), was officially inaugurated, helping Cambodia to promote innovation, develop technical skills, strengthen ideas, implement cooperation between academic ability and market demand.

The inauguration ceremony was held here on Mar. 14 under the presidency of H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, H.E. CHANG Won Sam, KOICA President, and H.E. Park Jung-Wook, Korean Ambassador to Cambodia, as well as academics and students.

‘As part of the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, NICC will contribute to developing the digital, finding and nurturing digital talents in the country,’ H.E. Hang Chuon Naron said on the occasion.

The NICC will promote innovation, develop technical skills, strengthen ideas, form cooperation and network of young people,’ H.E. CHANG Won Sam said.

‘The inauguration of the NICC is very meani
ngful contributing to supporting young people who started and who are ready to start businesses to achieve their dreams in the future,’ he added.

Located in the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), the NICC’s construction began in 2021 with a cost of US$7.91 million under a project named Establishment of Incubation System between University and Industry in Cambodia 2019-2024.

KOICA’s Aids Contribute to Cambodia’s Socio-Economic Development


The Korean International Cooperation (KOICA)’s grant aid programmes have contributed to the socio-economic development in Cambodia, thus helping the Kingdom to achieve her 2025 vision of becoming a high-income nation, said its President H.E. CHANG Won Sam.

He made the remarks at the official inauguration ceremony of the KOICA-funded National Incubation Centre of Cambodia, held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh on Mar. 14.

He recalled the KOICA’s cooperation with Cambodia dating back to 1991, through its Official Development Assistance (ODA) worth a total of US$363 million.

‘KOICA is cooperating in various fields to achieve the Cambodian government’s vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050 and to contribute to the Pentagonal Strategy,’ H.E. CHANG Won Sam affirmed.

Among the many KOICA cooperation projects, the National Incubation Centre of Cambodia will support young startups and young people who are ready to start a business to contribute to the future planning of Cambodia.

‘We once again e
xtend our sincere congratulations on the inauguration of the NICC. We sincerely hope that the dreams of all our youth will come true and promote the social and economic development of Cambodia,’ he said.

In a meeting with KOICA President H.E. CHANG Won Sam at the Peace Palace here on Thursday, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, spoke highly of the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea, especially in the areas of economy, trade and investment, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of Cambodia.

The Prime Minister thanked the Korean government through KOICA for having provided and continuing to provide ODA to Cambodia.

Cambodian Products Promoted for Domestic and Overseas Markets


The Ministry of Commerce has recently organised a workshop in Kratie northeastern province to boost the Cambodia-made products in domestic and foreign markets.

The workshop, held on Mar. 13 in the provincial city, was chaired by H.E. KAO Kosal, Director General of Trade Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, and H.E. SOUS SereySousdey, Deputy Governor of Kratie province, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

On the occasion, H.E. KAO Kosal laid stress on the ministry’s active participation in promoting Cambodia’s economic growth by continuing to strengthen and expand the domestic and global markets for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Cambodia and inspiring Cambodians to support, use, and promote Cambodian products to encourage Cambodian entrepreneurs to be able to compete with imported products.

At the same time, he recommended the producers and traders to pay attention to brand building, quality, safety, hygiene, and packaging of products.

For his part, the Kratie deputy governor underl
ined his province’s potential products, such as rice, corn, beans, sesame, tobacco, rubber, cashew nuts, bananas, and sugar.

Construction of Mekong River Bridge in Kratie Province 30 Percent Completed


The construction of a Chinese-funded US$111 million bridge across the Mekong River in Kratie province is now 30 percent complete, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) said.

The update was made when H.E. Lim Sidenin, Secretary of State at the MPWT, led a technical working group to inspect the progress of the Mekong River Bridge and Kratie Bridge Project on Mar. 14.

The project includes the construction of a new Mekong River bridge and a new road connecting NR7 to NR60B.

To date, 45 percent of the bridge construction work was completed and while the construction of the connecting road has reached 15, percent, the ministry said.

‘Overall, the whole project is about 30 percent complete. The figure shows that the project is progressing in a positive direction as planned,’ the ministry underlined.

The 1,761-kilometre-by-13.5-metre bridge, along with a 31.69-kilometre-long connecting road, has been being constructed by the Shanghai Construction Group.

The project costs US$111.98 million, financed
by the People’s Republic of China, and will take about 42 months to complete.

The 7th-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to further investing in significant infrastructure projects ranging from deep-sea ports and international airports to roadways.
