MOE TO GIVE FULL COOPERATION IN PROBE INTO DEATH OF STUDENT IN DORM


PUTRAJAYA, The Ministry of Education (MOE) is ready to provide its full cooperation in the investigation into the death of a vocational college student who was found dead in a dormitory with injuries and bruises on his body yesterday.

The MOE said today that it will not compromise with the misconduct of bullying in all educational institutions under its management.

‘The MOE expresses sadness and condolences to the family of the victim, a vocational college student in Sabah.

“The death of the victim is still under investigation by the authorities and the MOE is ready to provide its full cooperation,” the ministry said in a statement.

It said the MOE had taken immediate action by providing welfare assistance to the victim’s family.

“Psychosocial support has been offered to the family members, other students, teachers and all college students,” according to the statement.

Yesterday, the 17-year-old male student was found dead on the floor with injuries and bruises on several parts of the body in the dormi
tory.

Lahad Datu police chief ACP Dr Rohan Shah Ahmad said police believed that there was a misunderstanding between the victim and other students that allegedly led to his death.

He said 13 male students, aged between 16 and 19, were detained to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

SAFETY, CONFIDENTIALITY OF PADU INFORMATION GUARANTEED FROM LEAKS – MOHD UZIR


ARAU, The safety and confidentiality of information within the Central Database Hub (PADU), managed by the National Digital Department (JDN) that is an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department, are guaranteed from leaks so far, said Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin.

He stated that in the event of any undesired incident, PADU, through the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), is prepared to handle it according to stipulated procedures.

“I urge everyone to take the opportunity to update PADU and not wait until the last moment. This PADU information will help the government plan future programmes,” he said in a statement during his visit to the PADU counter at Masjid Al Masyhoor Padang Siding near here today.

Mohd Uzir also said that a total of 1,006 PADU counters had been opened in Perlis, including joint programmes with the community and the Digital Economic Centres (PEDi) from Jan 2 until today.

“Mobile counters are also open at 101 mosques, especially on Fridays,” he said,
adding that PADU registration in Perlis had increased to 0.08 million people as of yesterday.

PAHANG SULTAN GRANTS AUDIENCE TO PM ANWAR


KUANTAN, Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today granted an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Abdulaziz here.

Also present was Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah.

The Prime Minister arrived at the palace at 3.40 pm and the meeting lasted about one hour.

Anwar, who is on a one-day visit to the state, is scheduled to attend a briefing on state development by Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at the office of the state secretary.

He will also go on a walkabout at the Ramadan Bazaar at Taman Kerang and attend a state-level breaking of fast event at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Mosque in Indera Mahkota.

SMJ DEVELOPMENT PLAN WELCOMES PEOPLE TO DEVELOP SABAH TOGETHER – HAJIJI


BEAUFORT, The Sabah state government introduced the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development plan to welcome Sabahans to come together and develop the state, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said.

Even though the state government faced many challenges since taking over the state’s administration, various programmes have been implemented under the SMJ plan to develop the state and raise the living standards of its people, he said.

‘This slogan is good as it invites our people to progress and develop the state together, but they (the opposition) don’t want this slogan, they only want to politick day and night,’ he said at a breaking fast event at Beaufort district mosque here today, adding that the opposition were afraid of what the government has achieved using the SMJ plan.

Hajiji, who is Gagasan Rakyat president, expressed his hope that the people of Sabah would unite against challenges, and reiterated his determination that the state government, under his leadership, would remain focused on the welfare of
Sabahans and the economy of the state.

“There is still much to be done for the peopleā€¦ we are committed to solve all the issues and we have plans to do so soon.

‘We have allocations to solve the water supply issue we inherited from the previous government. We want to develop Sabah together, we are left behind because we argue over politics daily, so we delay our development,’ he said,

SULTAN NAZRIN, TUANKU ZARA VISIT RAMADAN BAZAAR AT ARENA KUALA KANGSAR


KUALA KANGSAR, The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim visited the Ramadan Bazaar at Arena Kuala Kangsar here today.

The royal couple arrived at 5pm and spent about 30 minutes exploring the stalls at the bazaar, engaging with both the crowd and the traders.

Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara took time to converse with the traders, gaining insights into their livelihood and the goods on offer.

Among the items that caught the royal couple’s attention were local delicacies, refreshing drinks and murtabak, which they purchased, adding a touch of regal patronage to the bustling bazaar.
