Cambodian PM Meets Thai House Speaker


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here at the Peace Palace this afternoon visiting H.E. Wanmuhadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Thailand.

On the occasion, H.E. Wanmuhadnoor Matha expressed his deep appreciation for the ability and leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister, who has brought growth and development to Cambodia. He is confident that under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei, Cambodia will continue to develop strongly.

He also lauded the relationship between the two countries’ legislative bodies, saying that both sides will reach a memorandum of understanding on the exchange of visits and experience between parliamentary delegations. At the same time, he affirmed that the Thai parliament will continue to contribute to and support the strengthening and expansion of cooperation between the two nations.

For his part, Samdech Thi
padei Hun Manet highly valued the relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand, which has reached the level of “strategic partnership”, an excellent relationship. He was convinced that the visit of H.E. Wanmuhadnoor Matha will further contribute to deepening the bilateral cooperation in all fields, including economy, trade, education, tourism, defence, security and so on.

The Cambodian Premier also thanked the Thai government and relevant institutions for taking care of Cambodian workers in Thailand and for exempting the Re-entry Visa Fee for Cambodian workers who return to Thailand after the Khmer Traditional New Year holiday.

Besides, Samdech Thipadei and H.E. Wanmuhadnoor Matha exchanged views on enhancing cooperation on regional and international issues to participate in building peace, stability, solidarity and prosperity in the region, and also discussed the cooperation on tightening cooperation on digital development, the fight against illicit drugs, cybercrime, transnational crime and
online scams.

Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Continue Strengthening Cooperation with Myanmar


Cambodia will continue to fostering her relations and cooperation with Myanmar in potential areas such as economy, trade, and people-to-people contacts.

The commitment was reaffirmed by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, while receiving a courtesy call from newly appointed Ambassador of Myanmar to Cambodia H.E. Kyaw Soe Min, at the Peace Palace here this afternoon.

The Cambodian Premier spoke highly of the long-standing diplomatic relations between the two ASEAN countries, and congratulated H.E. Kyaw Soe Min on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

For his part, the Burmese diplomat expressed his gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for its support and assistance to Myanmar during the COVID-19 spread.

H.E. Kyaw Soe Min pledged to do his best to further tighten the relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar during his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom.

Cambodia, Azerbaijan to Sign a MoU on Tourism Cooperation and Connectivity


The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Azerbaijan will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation and connectivity between the two countries.

H.E. SOK Soken, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia and H.E. Shovgi Mehdizada, Ambassador of Azerbaijan with residence in Hanoi, Viet Nam agreed to promote the signing of the MoU in the near future, during their meeting here on Mar. 22, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism.

H.E. Ambassador appreciated the development of Cambodia’s tourism sector and requested H.E. Minister to share experiences on the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB), the National Institute of Tourism and the Vocational School of Tourism.

As 2024 marks the 30th Anniversary of Cambodia-Azerbaijan Diplomatic Relations, H.E. Ambassador requested H.E. Minister to cooperate in organising various events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and to promote the flow of tourism.

On the same day, H.E. SOK Soken also received Mr. Arnaud Sonnet, Co-founder of the
‘Travel Tomorrow’ media platform and Co-Producer of the Documentary ‘Embarquement’ broadcasted on TV5 Monde, to examine opportunities for the cooperation in promoting Cambodia’s tourism destinations to the world.

According to Mr. Arnaud Sonnet, “Travel Tomorrow” is a leading global online media platform in Europe that promotes travel and tourism, and the documentary “Embarquement” is a popular series on TV5 Monde that offers detailed highlights of cultures and traditions of lesser-known tourism destinations to audiences around the world.

Noting this potential, H.E. Minister indicated the possibility for cooperation in promoting Cambodia as a top priority tourism destination through the “Travel Tomorrow” media platform and “Embarquement” documentaries.

Cooperation between Cambodian and Thai Parliaments Lauded


Cambodia and Thailand have appreciated the progress in their close relations and cooperation, particularly between their legislative bodies, reflected through visit exchange and their mutual support at inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP), Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

The satisfaction was made by Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, Acting Head of State, and visiting H.E. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, during their meeting here at the Senate Palace this morning.

The two leaders wished the two parliaments to foster their cooperation for the common cause of both countries and peoples.

H.E. Wanmuhamadnoor Math highly valued the progress of Cambodia, and noted the growing investment between the two neighbouring nations.

Samdech Say Chhum expressed his gratitude to Princess Maha Chakri Sir
indhorn for supporting Kampong Chheuteal Institute of Technology and Kampong Speu Institute of Technology and for having granted scholarships to more than 3,000 Cambodian students so far.

The Acting Head of State welcomed and supported the two Royal Governments’ initiative to promote their tourism through ‘Two Kingdoms, One Destination’, cross-border travel facilitation, and so on.

Samdech Say Chhum expressed his conviction that the Thai government and parliament will continue to pay attention to the Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand, which is a Win-Win policy for socio-economic development of the two countries.

Cambodia and Thailand are going to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties next year.

Cambodia Int’l Gems and Jewelry Fair Kicks off in Phnom Penh


The 15th edition of the Cambodia International Gems and Jewelry Fair kicked off on Thursday, aiming to boost trade of precious stones and jewelry.

The five-day fair, from Mar. 21 to 25, is being held at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh with displays of precious stones and jewelry by local and international firms.

The fair is organised in order for jewelry traders and companies, both domestic and foreign, to display their jewelry and precious stones, said Mr. Chhay Sinat, Acting President of the Cambodian Gems and Jewelry Traders Association.

‘The five-day fair is aimed to showcase the potential in the jewelry and gem sector in the country and provide insights into the growth and design of contemporary Cambodian finery,’ Mr. Chhay Sinat, said in the opening ceremony on Mar. 21.

The fair is expected to give floor to all Cambodian traders and jewelry designers to meet and collaborate with foreign partners to promote their businesses, he added.

Ministry of Commerce’s Under Secretary o
f State H.E. Ms. Tan Tepikanika said the fair will boost trade of jewelry and precious stones and raise awareness of the country’s jewelry sector.

Figures from the Ministry of Commerce show that Cambodia exported some US$850 million worth of jewelry and precious stones to the international market in 2023, up 261 percent compared to 2022.
